It was Walk, Bike, & Roll Day at Broad View Elementary this week! Families met at First Reformed Church parking lot and Oak Harbor Fire and Police escorted them to the school. When they arrived, the parade of families were welcomed and celebrated by school and district staff and given healthy snacks. Thank you to our amazing community partners, volunteers, families, and staff for making this annual event a success.

North Whidbey Middle School recently had some special visitors—therapy dogs from Dogs on Call, a volunteer organization that brings trained therapy animals to schools, hospitals, retirement communities, and other settings. Students and staff interacted with the calm, friendly dogs, who offered comfort, stress relief, and a cheerful break in the school day.
Students at the Exceptional Academy are also making meaningful connections with animals through internships at the Whidbey Animals' Improvement Foundation (WAIF). As part of their work-based learning experience, students are helping walk and socialize dogs at the shelter, gaining hands-on experience while making a difference in the lives of adoptable pets.

Chance Teeter-Rock, Breckin Cook, and Liam Aguirre, recently started a book club at Broad View Elementary. It all started with a poster, which led to an announcement over the intercom inviting students to meet under the "big cedar tree" at recess. A group of students are now meeting every day at recess and devouring the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. Their book club has been a hit! We are proud of these Explorers!
