Practicing Safety Protocols
This week district staff and leadership from all schools met to conduct an interactive exercise about reunifying families in the event of an emergency evacuation.

This year our schools adopted the "I Love U Guys" Standard Response Protocol (SRP). If an evacuation is necessary our schools are prepared with resources, tools, and training to keep students safe and a system to reconnect students with their families.

Weather Closure & Delay Reminders
As we head into another stormy evening, we wanted to remind families that you'll be informed through phone call, text message, email, social media, and our district website if conditions result in a schedule change. Please review your Skyward information and report any mistakes to your child's school and make sure a cell phone number is listed in the second phone number line. Staff and families do not need to opt-in or register in ParentSquare to receive notifications. If schools are operating on a normal schedule, no notifications will be issued. Have a safe and happy weekend!

Friendsgiving at Exceptional Academy
Exceptional Academy students prepared and hosted a Friendsgiving feast for Oak Harbor first responders this week! The annual event is a way for students to show their appreciation for the service and dedication to the community.

Midway High School students were invited to join the festivities. They played a lively game of Uno, enjoyed good food, and engaged in conversations which made for a great sense of community for all.

At Oak Harbor Elementary, Mrs. Ritter’s 2nd-grade class paired up with Mrs Bailey’s 4th-grade class on Wednesday for Reading Buddies. 4th grade students picked a picture book to practice and then share with their buddy! The 2nd-grade students really enjoyed the stories that were shared!

Mrs. Gmerek's art students practiced repoussé technique, a metalworking technique that involves hammering a malleable metal from the back to create a raised design in relief. Our art programs are supported with levy funding.
